I am getting some knitting done.

Firstly it took a few years but finally the sock vicitim has some wollmeise socks and he couldn’t be happier.  Regia plain socks have been the prefered but I had wanted to knit Conway for a while now and thought the green was perfect.  He loves them.  And wants more.  Oh no.  And also keeps wearing his jumper and wants another. And the hat I made him too he keeps wearing that too…

What. Have. I. Done.

No really so happy that he loves my knitting

This I will admit that this and many of my current projects have fallen into the distracted basket all too often at the moment.  I get excited and cast on knit for a bit and then get distracted but something shiny over there.  Which in the past is ok because my knitting seamed to keep up with my pace of distraction.

But with longer working hours, I know mustn’t really complain as I am loving my new job, and the getting fitter thing, round 2 off to a bad start due to damn sickness but week 2 is going better already, there is much reduced knitting time.  And I must stop saying yes – said I would knit a hat for this guy who walked into the guild meeting – really not the best thing to do as no one else will help and I am left with this additional project – working out the pattern for a hat and already onto the second time around for cast on – I did swatch and I did check, double check, but cotton is quite different to wool and no where near the stretch or forgiveness so 2nd time again it is ARG.

My knitting time is precious now.

So I cast these on way back last year in July and 2 weeks ago I finished them.

Sock #6 2011

Pattern: Conway by my sock hero Nancy Bush

Yarn:  Wollmeise 80/20 in colour way Mistelzweig

Needles: 2.25mm addi turbo lace

Time on needles : months cast on July 2011 cast off Mat 2012

So S.V. has had these for 2 weeks and keeps wearing them – soon to get another wash – and even on Saturday as we waited to see the doctor, for too many jabs, he remarked again how much he liked them.

Then onto the dreaded cardigan – a sister project for Larch by the same designer – I knit the body to the arm hole really fast back in march and then just got distracted. Realising that the only way to finish projects is with monogamy I am knitting this faithfully.  I have gone back to my ravelry queue and I am working my way backwards through the projects that I need to finish.

We are in the last day of a long weekend here in and on Saturday I finished the back, left front and most of the right front. Sunday the right front and re did the tops of all the fronts and back to include short row shaped shoulders and a 3 needle bind off for the shoulders. I am also going to graft the collar together – I think one side is way longer than the other somehow. Sunday night I cast on the sleeves – two at once on 2 circular needles. I stuck with my size but will increase a small amount on the way up the sleeve – I have skinny arms so this may work.

So wish me luck as I have 1 week to go on this before I need to work on another project for class – still mulling over the best what’s next project in 8 ply to include purl, increase, decreases, sewing up and colour changes that can be knit in 2 hours…..a hat, mittens or a little project bag – what do you think?

Be careful what you wish for? My family watch me like magpies as I am knitting: is that for me? Who’s that for?

Well, it is fabbo that he loves the socks so much! Really! And they do look great.

I think maybe a baby hat for class? Knit flat perhaps, so it will need seaming? (not that I could knit one in two hours, I am such a slow knitter!)

snap. my conwys in blue wollmeise are a favourite too. great pattern in stunning yarn, hard to go wrong. i think a little project bag for class is a good idea, knit a square, add a buttonhole, sew it up, add button and some embroidery etc. lots of skills to practice. and i cant wait to see this latest cardigan. you are always so hard on yourself, your cardigans are beautiful!

Oh, my husband and kid are constantly bugging me for new knits. So I basically said to the husband, “put up the blunt and you’ll get a new sweater”

So now, for my birthday, he’s taking me to Webs (!) and I’m getting to go on a woolly shopping spree. YAY!

The socks are gorgeous, by the way.
